Simple terms for a simple correspondence service.

Access

1842 provides hosted access to private slow-correspondence accounts. Each access package covers two separate user accounts unless otherwise stated.

Annual access

Annual access remains active for the stated term. Renewal is not automatic unless explicitly introduced and accepted later.

Lifetime access

Lifetime access means access for the natural lifetime of the original account holder while the 1842 service remains operational and the account remains in good standing. It is not an absolute guarantee that the service will exist indefinitely.

Cause Partner access

Supporter contributions are paid directly to the participating organisation. 1842 is not a party to the contribution and does not determine tax treatment. The organisation confirms qualification for an access package.

Acceptable use

Users may not use 1842 for illegal activity, threats, exploitation, harassment, impersonation, malware, fraud, unauthorised access or conduct that materially harms others or the service.

Account security

Users must keep credentials private and use accurate account contact information. Email changes require confirmation.

Content and storage

Users retain responsibility for what they write. Letters may remain stored after being removed from a visible inbox or archive. Final retention, export and deletion rules must be stated in the production terms.

Suspension

1842 may restrict or suspend accounts for serious misuse, non-payment, security risk or legal necessity.

Availability

The service may change, experience interruptions or eventually close. Reasonable efforts should be made to preserve paid correspondence and provide export opportunities where practicable.
